This work is a study of the complexity of language and relationships. Split into two couples with separate choreographed movement, my dancers continuously ask each other, “How are you,” and the response is always, “I’m fine.” While the dialogue stays the same, the tone of their voices change with each call and response, showing the vast intricacy of human language. As the piece develops, each couple goes through their own journey together and all join into one entity in the end.
Through questioning interaction, I decided to disrupt the barrier between audience and performer. During the live performance of So, how’s the weather, I asked the audience members to sit on stage, circling the dancers. One of my dancers, Alexsander, even begins interspersed within the seated audience members.
